Barton students participate in Kansas Music Educators Association Convention

Five members of the Barton Community College music department participated in the Kansas Intercollegiate Band at the Kansas Music Educators Association Convention on Feb. 24 and 25 in the Century II Concert Hall in Wichita. This select 100-piece band has personnel from most of the universities, church colleges and community colleges in Kansas. Those selected to participate in the band include from Barton were Rebecca Harmison, flute; Anahi Prieto, alto saxophone; Ben Diel, trumpet; Kira Bunn, trombone and Steven Cortez, trombone.

In addition, National Association for Music Education (NAfME) collegiate members attended clinics and concerts and joined other NAfME chapters for a luncheon during the convention. Members from Barton’s chapter who attended include Tasha Deiser, Michael Raymer, Slade Zamarrpipa and Paul Claussen.
